Merkel ISD Health Services

The goal of Merkel ISD Health Services is to keep students in school so they can learn.  However, it is important for parents/guardians to know that schools are required to exclude students from school with certain contagious illnesses.

A student has to be fever-free for 24 hours (below 100.0) without the use of fever reducing medications and also free from vomiting and diarrhea for 24 hours from the last episode.  The 24-hour exclusion rule can be verified in the student handbook, which can be found on the Merkel ISD website.

Please do not send your child to school for the nurse to check temperature, or give your child fever-reducing medicine before school.  This spreads germs to other children in the school and on school buses.  If your child is sick, please keep him/her home!

Please help keep our Badgers healthy and reduce the spread of contagious illness in our community.

Thank you so much!
